Adopt-a-Shop Frequently Asked Questions
Can I donate to a non-vocational program or activity instead? Certainly. You can earmark a donation for any program you wish.
How do I make my contribution? It’s simple. If you make a monetary donation, your check should be made payable to the Blue Hills Foundation. On the memo line of the check, write Adopt-a-Shop /
Name of the shop receiving your donation. All donations not marked will go into
a general fund. Send it to the Blue Hills Regional Technical School, 800 Randolph St., Canton, Mass. 02021. Put “Attention: Adopt-a-Shop” on your envelope. To contribute material goods, please contact
Michelle Roache at 781-828-5800, ext. 230. If you want to contribute for a specific piece of equipment, indicate that in a letter enclosed with your check, or on the check itself.
If I donate cash, how will it be used? It will go to the program of your choice. Money donated for unspecified use will go into a general equipment fund; decisions on allocating that money will be made by the
Adopt-A-Shop advisory team.
Is there any deadline for contributing? No, but you may want to take advantage of the applicable dates of your company’s fiscal or tax year.
What is Adopt-a-Shop? This is a new campaign designed to enable the friends of Blue Hills Regional Technical School to support its vocational programs by making tax-deductible contributions. Major cuts in state funding made such an initiative absolutely necessary in order for us to maintain the high quality of vocational training at Blue Hills.
What is the Blue Hills Foundation and what role does it play in the Adopt-a-Shop campaign?
The Blue Hills Foundation is a tax-exempt organization (EIN 04-3022592, 501 [c[ [3]) established in 1988 to allow people to make tax-deductible donations of money or goods to the school. Its members include Blue Hills alumni, the current and former superintendents, former Blue Hills Regional District School Committee representatives and teachers, the school’s Admissions and Financial Aid officer, and others. The Foundation also plays a role in meeting the training and educational needs of those enrolled in graduate courses, evening programs, and grades nine through twelve at the school. Contributions to Adopt-a-Shop will be handled through the Foundation, which is overseeing this campaign.
What types of contributions are you seeking? We would appreciate the following:
1. Financial donations of any amount. Call Marybeth Joyce of the Blue Hills Foundation at 781-828-5800, ext. 231 for information or questions.
2. State-of-the-art equipment. Call Vocational Coordinator
Michele Roache at 782-828-5800, ext. 230 for information or questions.
Who can participate and what are the benefits of participating? Anyone who wants to take part is welcome to do so, especially Blue Hills alumni, local and national business leaders, local residents, and those who care about vocational education. By supporting Adopt-a-Shop, you are helping capable young people who will be future employees, taxpayers, voters, parents, and citizens of your town. |
